CIty mouse!

The Rosso's are off to the city! I just booked us tickets to NYC and Providence for our fall vacation. We'll have the chance to do some shopping (i'm drooling already!), eat an authentic new york hot dog, and visit some long lost med school friends! This country mouse is a bit nervous to go to the big city, I'm thinking I'll acculturate myself with a sex and the city marathon!

Huge honor!

Tomorrow, Secretary Solis, the US Secretary of Labor will be in town. And I've been invited to meet with her! Scary! I'm going to have to wear my power suit:) She will be at KU to address access to health care and rural medicine. I kinda feel like Elle Woods in Legally Blonde:)

Crazy enough - I got chosen to be the "face of family medicine" in the Kansas City Star this weekend. Total funness.Miss Elo likes to lay on my face! I hope she's proud of her mama!

And, here's a pic of the last real dinner I cooked (sadly, over 2 weeks ago.) Marinated tomato pasta with fresh mozzarella. Delish!

checking in

Haven't had much new to post lately. All my days are starting to run together - up at 445, to the hospital before 6, see my patients, come home around 7, lay on the couch, eat some dinner, and go to bed. I really can't complain though, I'm learning SO much and am actually enjoying the work. Its reassuring to have that affirmation and to know I didn't make a terrible mistake in career choice.

Today was a nice short day. Out of the hospital by 11:30, a quick run at the gym, and home just after noon. Felipe took me on a little date to our fave coffee shop where I tried this interesting new icy coffee drink: 2 shots espresso, soy milk, and a banana blended with ice. Not too bad. The caffeine gave me just the perk I needed. We're off to a urology party this evening. I'm going to wear a new outfit that I snatched up at Target a while ago. It'll be nice to feel like a girl again, I've been wearing scrubs, a ponytail, and no make-up all month.

I get the day off tomorrow and have a pedicure with the girls planned for Thursday. Good things to look forward to!

p.s. Heart is coming to the state fair in september. Anyone want to be my date?

p.p.s. wedding proofs are posted! htp://prints.lemonlimephoto.com

My first day off!

Woohoo! Got to sleep in the ripe old hour of 645 this morning, a lovely 2 hours later than normal. I rolled out of bed (after the sun), tidied up the house a bit, and shook my booty to a belly-dance workout. I felt uber-awkward, but it was still a lot of fun. Just wish I had the little hip scarf with the jingle coins.

After that I drove over to Leawood for some hot highlights. Leah worked her magic and I came out of the salon feeling like a ginger goddess. I promptly rewarded myself with a new dress, new peasant blouse, and new lounge pants. Dinner was a delish BLT with a glass of Newman's Own cabernet. Overall the perfect day off. I'm just about to crawl into bed to start another day in teh ICU.

ps. check out the new duvet felipe and I picked out! It's a super-silky cotton sateen.

4 days & counting

It's been awhile since I've posted, you could say I've been busy saving lives but I think I've just been busy getting jaded. So many of the people I've helped to care for have ended up in the hospital on their own accord. No wonder this country is in a health care crisis.

But enough pessimism. I'm keeping quite busy and learning a lot. The other doctors I'm working with are very nice and are teaching me all kinds of useful things. Definitely haven't gotten used to getting up at 445 every morning, but I will get to sleep in Thursday. And I have a color appointment for fresh highlights. 2 things to look forward too!
