Some people prefer roses on their piano. . . . .
Planted some lovely spring bulbs out in the back yard today - can't wait to see them bloom next year!
Fall is quickly becoming my number one season. I just love the crisp sunny afternoons, sipping apple cider (occasionally spiked with butterscotch rum), and finally being able to turn on the oven to bake yummy delights. On the agenda for this afternoon, banana muffins.

Turkey day
It was SO nice to be back in the kitchen trying some new recipes. The first is Sloppy Buffalo Joes from Miss Rachel Ray. Can't say I am a big fan of hers, but I am a big fan of sloppy joes and buffalo wings. Despite using twice as much sauce as I was supposed to, these were delicious. Luckily I had time to let it boil down, don't think sloppy buffalo soup would have been quite as yummy. The blue cheese is what tipped these over the balance, can't wait for the leftovers tomorrow. Next time I'm using the 1/3c hot sauce for a little more heat.
The broccoli salad is from All Recipes one of my fave recipe sites. I'm a sucker for their reviews. This was my first time making broccoli salad and I was very pleased with the results. I think it could have used a tad more dressing, but I am glad I put in a few extra shakes of vinegar. I like my salad tangy!
Both recipes were made with turkey (ground turkey and turkey bacon), making them just a tad bit healthier and a perfect preview for all the turkey to come this season! Also, both passed the husband taste test. Whew!
but he slowly squirms loose. . . .
and enjoys a victory bath.
p.s. see Elo's little paws hiding underneath the chair in the middle pic? desperately hiding from her papa?

Yelp fun!
It's becoming a well known fact that I'm a tad bit addicted to Yelp. I'm one that loves to share my opinion (either good or bad) and this is a fun platform to do it on. I've met fun new people and have scored invites to fabulous soirees. Overall quite a beneficial obsession. This week I'm featured as a "Top Yelper!"

Landscaping 101
Fel & I decided it was time to beginning sprucing up our less-than-pretty back yard. I think the gorgeous fall day and full night's sleep helped boost our motivation. After a run to Home Depot we were equipped with some gorgeous purple pansies (that supposedly will reflower this spring), clippers, a trowel, 2 pairs of gloves, and 3 bags of mulch. Who knew mulch comes in so many colors??? Brown, black, red, rubber. . . . .
Check out the hubby trimming the tree. Before I knew it the bushes had a buzz cut and my new peony bush was nowhere to be found. . . . .gotta love his surgeon's enthusiasm!
3 hours of back-breaking labor and we had a pretty little corner complete with purple pansies, a rock border, and a lemon tree.
The latest vogue in gardening chic - - - -scrub pants, oakley's, and purple gloves. So GQ!
