Happy easter

Details to follow.....

The details.  Had a FULL working weekend getting the house in order.  Switched rooms around, hauled off furniture, packed up treasures, scrubbed off scuffs, magicianed soem blinds, and ate a lot of carry-out.  The house is ready, bring it on buyers!

Spring?

Could today be the 1st day of spring? Bella's awesome hat and my daffodils seem to think so.

This girl chowed down on some avocado tonight, definitely her mother's/father's child.

Just like daddy

Washington DC

Shame on me for not posting these past 8 days.  I've said it before, and I'll say it again --- living life has been so BUSY!

We had an awesome time in DC - - - check out of photo journey.

First off, we had a stowaway.  Miss Elo wanted desperately to come with us (she dreaded being home with her brother for 4 days!)  Luckily we caught her before the luggage was loaded.

Bella felt a little warm Thursday when we left (and had the rosiest little cheeks) but did AMAZING on the plane.  I caught one lady whispering to her friend, "that baby was behind me the whole flight and I didn't hear her once!"  Thank goodness she was a little princess because we got a lot of looks as we waited to board.  She loved looking out the window during the descent, she's such a curious little lady.

Unfortunately she didn't perk up much on Friday.  She was such a little furnace and feeling so crummy, we went out and got a thermometer and some Tylenol.  She spent the whole morning chewing on her binky.

Luckily the tylenol and a cuddle afternoon with daddy perked her right up.  We think she was teething, though no teeth have popped through the surface yet.

She was feeling so good we went out for a walk and enjoyed a glass of local vintage.

She LOVED chewing on her little corn cob @ dinner Friday night, though I certainly felt like a hillbilly.  Who gives their baby a corn cob?  This momma does!  I think it felt good on her gums.  She liked it so much we took the last ear of corn to the hotel so she could have corn cobs 2 days in a row.

That's where the photos leave off.  We didn't do such a good job documenting our first family trip.  We didn't even take a group picture!  One of my favorite parts of the trip was the 3 of us all cuddling up in the big, fluffy, king-sized bed.

The way home was an adventure.  After waking her up @ 630 (530 Kansas time), taking a taxi to the airport, navigating check-in and security, then boarding the plane and waiting on the runway, they taxied back to the gate and had us deplane due to a mechanical issue.  Ugh!  Of course she had just fallen asleep when the made the announcement.  Ninety minutes later we were back on the plane and up in the air, finally arriving to KC a little after noon to be greeted by many inches of snow.

5 months!

This post is a wee bit late, but here's our girl!

Stress!

It's been awhile since I've posted.  The days have simply flown by so quickly keeping me so busy.

Getting the house ready to put on the market has turned me into a grumpy bundle of stress.  The stager came this week.  Naive me thought she'd rearrange a bit, make a few suggestions, but absolutely love my decorating aesthetic.  WRONG!  She ripped several of my favorite photos/pieces of art of the walls.  Bashed the duvet on our bed.  Uncovered a million dust bunnies.  AND left extensive directions for how to rearrange (as in MOVE the office UPSTAIRS!)  I was a total disaster by the time she left.  Generous of our realtors to hire her because we certainly want the most out of our house, let's just hope she's worth it!

On top of that, we are getting ready to go to Washington DC next week for my nursing home conference.  I haven't made a packing list yet but I'm guessing it's much more extensive now that we've got a cute little plus one.  I'm also guessing she will have more stuff than Fel and I combined.

On a much more fun note - Miss Bella has learned to roll over!  She seems to have forgotten how to roll from stomach to back (which she learned weeks ago), but has become a pro at the back to tummy.    An even newer skill (and much more exciting for me) is sleeping through the night.  One night she just did it.  Granted I still wake up every few hours out of habit and am a super light sleeper, fingers crossed this will improve!

Also, I signed my job contract today and put it in the mail.  Once the rest of the partners sign (9 in all) it will be official.

Sunday Funday

You know how the early bird gets the worm?  I think Bella is in competition for catching the most worms, EVER.  The past few nights she wakes up every few hours.  Not angry, or sad, or scared.  She just wants to babble and coo and have a long monologue.  Unfortunately it's picked up on the monitor and we've already got it on the lowest volume setting.  I'm considering turning it off altogether. . . . .her cries fit through the ceiling nicely from the nursery to our bedroom, no amplification needed.

Today I made a delish chocolate banana cake to take over to the in-laws.  I think I'm going to have a piece now with a cup of tea.........

Miss Bella has quite the appetite as well.  Her current fave is sucking the juice out of pears!

Not much new in @ the Rosso house.  Fel and I both started work out at the VA this week.  Longer commute, but better hours.  I also started my urology rotation on Wednesday mornings where I get to work with my hubby's colleagues.  A little weird.  Makes me feel like I ALWAYS have to be on my game.

We've had quite the weekend so far.  We woke up this morning around 4am, peeked at the monitor, and saw Bella face down.  We jumped out of bed, ran downstairs, and rolled her over.  She opened one  eye, gave us a dirty look for waking her up, and then promptly rolled back over.  Guess we've got a mobile little lady now.  All bets are off.  Other things she is loving - - reaching for our food, playing with the "big" kids (this girl is fearless!), jamming out to guitar, and jumping.  She's still slowly warming up to baths and is now calm in her carseat.

Coming up, we've got our first family vacation - - Washington DC!

Reading is Fun - To the Lighthouse

Had a lovely weekend recuperating from the snow and vaccinations.  GG and gpa came up from Arkansas and we all had such a lovely time.

Mom and I got to steal away for some shopping Saturday afternoon and then a movie Saturday night (we even got popcorn!)  We went to see Amour which won best foreign film at the Academy Awards this year.

We also did lots of cooking and eating (the usual!) - caribbean jerk pork in the slow cooker, skillet roast chicken, and peanut butter banana donuts.

To end the weekend we got some TCBY which I haven't had in ages and then upgraded our phones.  We are back to being an iphone family and already loving face time.

Even finished a book - To the Lighthouse (by Virginia Woolf).  Every once in awhile I try to be cultured and go to the symphony, try cavier, or read a classic.  Generally it doesn't work in my favor.  Though sad, Amour was in my favor.  It was an excellent movie.  To the Lighthouse, not my style.  I struggled to get through it but never grasped the deeper meaning.

The Red Carpet

The Red Carpet last Sunday was AMAZING!  I'm such a sucker for fashion.

Gorgeous couple!

So classic and gorgeous (can't wait to see the Mad Max movie she chopped her hair for).

Beautiful.

Old Hollywood glam done right.

Precious.

Evidently "pale" was the color of the night.  Can't say I love this one, but it intrigues me.

Did anyone watch any of the movies?  We enjoyed Flight w/ Denzel, but it was the only one we saw.

Looking Back

2012.
Lots of Baby Rosso talk (she was as big as a peach!)  Now she is sweet as a peach. Lots of eating out, savoring on our pre-baby time.  After watching this awesome video (below), we decided we had to have a musical family.  I also spent some sunny days lounging in the new hammock.  I'm hoping Bella and I can snuggle in the hammock when spring finally decides to arrive.

2011.
Worked A LOT and signed up for my first 5k.  March was a rather quiet month on the blog.

2010.
Attempted a 21-day cleanse (no sugar, alcohol, caffeine, gluten, meat, or dairy).  Didn't quite make it the whole 21 days, but the first few were an adventure.  Fel and I started looking for houses after we found out Janssen Place was up for a remodel.

2009.
Big month for me - bridal shower and matching into Family Medicine @ KU!

2008.
Made some delicious coconut icecream,  visited Arkansas, had a nasty bout of the stomach flu, and started shopping for a wedding dress.  I miss those shades!  But I miss Boomer even more.
