I'm a Burberry girl!
"The Brit girl embodies the playful British spirit of individuality. She's outrageous, but always charming and unpredictably sexy. Fresh and playful, the fragrance is a classic, green-oriental blend of lush fruits, sweet nutty essences, and soothing amber, vanilla, and Tonka bean."
My new signature scent - thanks babe for the wonderful pressie!
One of my all-time fave brits has got to be Bridget Jones.

The Princess Diaries - - - dinner at The American
Felipe took me to a lovely dinner last night at the American Restaurant. I felt like an absolute princess, we were sitted at a romantic booth, had impeccable service, and the chef even signed a copy of the menu for me to take home. Here's all the details - - -
The menu.
I had the roasted beet, salmon, and PB&J. Felipe had the cauliflower soup, pork chop, and chocolate passion.
What I wore.
I broke out my leather skirt (below the knee), with a floral bustier, and some black pumps. Before your jaw drops all the way to the floor, I covered it up with a simple black cardigan.

Fruitcake!
"Is there any food product anywhere that is more ridiculed and parodied during the holiday season than the poor old fruitcake? I once heard it said that there is really only one floating around the entire world. It is hard and stale because over the years it has been passed from person to person every holiday season since time immemorial. No one can eat it or use it for anything other than a gift for someone not liked, an alternate doorstop, brick or paperweight. " ----Eat, Drink and Really Be Merry
Well guess what? I love fruitcake! Maybe its because I'm a bit of a fruit myself or maybe its because it is dropped into mouthwatery little cookies rather than a brick, but I think it is because I have a recipe for the good stuff. Top secret, passed down from Joan to my mom to myself, made with love as well as generous portions of nuts and candied fruit (bought on clearance at the post-christmas sale.)

Happy Weekend!
After a long and exhausted week, I have officially made it to the weekend (well, somewhat officially.) I'm on OB call and there are 3 pregnant ladies ready to deliver, so I could get called in at a moment's notice. Fingers crossed!
On the agenda for this weekend -
- Watch New Moon - After persevering through Twilight, my manly husband has agreed to watch New Moon with me this afternoon while cuddling on the couch. I'm such a lucky girl! Now the question is - Team Jacob or Team Edward? Truthfully I'm leaning towards Jacob. . . . . .
- Barefoot Contessa - Cabbage Rolls. Has anyone ever tried/made cabbage rolls? According to Ina they are a fabulous winter comfort food and goodness knows we can all use a little comfort food when it is so chilly outside.
- Next weekend - STFM. Cannot wait for my business trip next weekend to Houston. According to the weather program on my iPhone it should be a balmy 60 degrees. Amen for sunshine!

I'm a winner!
Totally embarrassed myself at work today by squealing and jumping up and down when I was notified of my suprise win - a Land's End Canvas giftcard worth $50! Evidently I registered for the contest somewhere on facebook. (Yet another reason I love facebook!) Anyways, I could barely focus on my patients I was so excited to check out their website ---- and believe me, I had an interested afternoon in clinic scheduled. Think hemorrhoids and ingrown toenails.
Anyways, after safely driving home and re-shoveling the drive so I could safely go back to work tomorrow I chose my selections - a cozy sweatshirt, some aubergine cords, and some black dress pants. And I only got stuck with an $8 bill. Hooray for clearance!
You know, backing up to the re-shoveling. I've decided shoveling snow is most definitely a man's job, especially since I am baking this delicious dinner for my hubby tonight - - Herbed Turkey Meatballs with Cranberry Dipping Sauce.

Boots
Now here are some examples of what I was hoping to find at Walmart - there is no compromise for warm and dry feet but I just couldn't bring myself to wear something hideous!
Found all of these on Zappos, a veritable shoe mecca. Luckily Ebay is offering them for much, much less. Let's hope my guardian angel wants to to have warm, cozy, & cute feet!
Snow Day!
I woke up this morning to a winter wonderland, drove in to work at a snail's pace (45 minutes!), and then watched the snow continue to drift and accumulate outside the clinic windows. While I wasn't home relaxing with a hot toddy and the latest Twilight novel, I did enjoy a very light clinic load. Only 7 of my 17 patients showed up today! AND I get tomorrow morning off because the person I'm supposed to work with will be out of town. I'm convinced there is an angel out there somewhere watching over me.
Since I was the lucky Rosso to get off first, I decided to earn some wifey points and swing by Walmart for our very first snow shovel (and to treat myself to some cute snow boots.) Finding the snow shovel was no problem, but I was almost in tears at the hideous-ness of their snow boot selection. Too bad the leopard-print Ugg lookalikes were not waterproof :(
Nonetheless, I persevered snow-bootless, and shoveled the front drive and sidewalk. For a job well done I'm debated between hot buttered rum or a hot toddy. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

2011
Just pulled up my 2010 resolutions -
- Find my signature scent.
Get a raise.Go on a new travel adventure with my hubbyTry 52 new recipes.- Run a 5k.
Become a red-head.Redecorate "Felipe's" room.- Clean Daphne really, really good, and then keep her clean.
Grow my own herbs.Finish my 10 continuity OB deliveries.- Complete a new sewing project.
- Enjoy a romantic date with my hubby qweek.
Made it through 7 of them, which isn't half bad. I did try rather intently to find my signature scent, which turned out to be much more difficult than I anticipated. I think most likely its going to be in the Burberry line, but I haven't quite narrowed it down, so we'll put that back on the 2011 list.
As for the traveling, Felipe and I went on 2 Mexico adventures (Cozumel in February, and Puerto Vallarta in the Fall.) We are suckers for lounging on the beach. I think we're are going to sit this year out in anticipation for my 30th birthday trip in 2012. Mark it on your calendar because you are all invited to celebrate a new decade with me in an undecided exotic locale!
Alas, my lazy little butt never did make it on a 5K. However, to remedy that for this year I have recruited a running partner who is even more of a couch potato than myself - - - - -my wonderful husband. We will be running in the Rock the Parkway 5k on April 2nd.
Being a red-head was SO much fun. Its amazing how much sassiness you can get away with. People just expected it, and I definitely didn't want to disappoint. That said, it is nice to be back to my normal brunette, I missed wearing pink!
Felipe's room turned out so awesome, he's begun spending quite a bit of time up there jamming (thanks to a new gigantic amp and fancy sound-effect pedal.) Due to this fact, the room is already too messy to photograph. Should it become clean and organized during any point in 2011 I will be sure to snap some pics. Speaking of clean, Miss Daphne is still suffering. She's going back on the list at #3.
The new sewing project has already been picked out - a snake-print turban! Just need to get out my machine and get to work. Definitely stay tuned for pics of this project;)
2011 To-Do List:
- Find my signature scent-->Burberry?
- Run a 5K-->Rock the Parkway, April 2nd

- Spend a relaxing weekend at the spa
- Put some honest effort into learning spanish
- Pay off one debt-->I think Daphne might finally be all mine this year!
- Try not to over-react quite so much.

"Private" - Tue, 04 Jan 2011: "
"
"The funny part is - this cartoon is based on a true story. Felipe and I were awakened the other night in quite the panic. Out of the blue, this very loud funky-groove music starting blaring through the house. Still haven't figured out which of the kiddos pushed the play button on Fel's laptop.

Touching makes you healthier
Touching makes you healthier: "Whether it's a squeeze of the hand, a big bear hug, a kneading massage, even a bedroom romp, touch is shaping up to be the ultimate mind-body medicine. "
Good reason to give you sweetie a big hug!

my fave new years quote
"When Harry Met Sally", Harry Burns
And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it's not because I'm lonely, and it's not because it's New Year's Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.
