Another weekend

It's been an absolutely amazing weekend (despite being on call).  I've only gotten woken up once each night and haven't had any admissions (despite it being Country Stampede weekend).  I better knock on some wood because I've got about 21 hours of call left before I can hand over the phone.

Bella has become a pizza monster!  Fel picked up a Papa Murphy's gourmet vegetarian, on thin, with red sauce for dinner Friday (he gets dinner duty when I'm on call).  Bella ate 4 pieces (granted her's were the crust 1/3 of papa's slices). Still, I was quite impressed.  She keeps chanting - pizza!  pizza! pizza!

Yesterday I made a fettuccine alfredo with ham and peas that was easy and a huge hit with the family, can't beat that combo.

Today we're going to fry up some breakfast burgers in the cast iron skillet and maybe go out for some pizza and live jazz.  (What can I say, I guess I'm a pizza monster too!)

And I had a late night craving for some peanut butter cookies - this is the easiest recipe ever!

We also booked our family trip to Mexico.  Pretty soon Miss B will be 2 and will no longer fly free, and pretty soon we'll have our hands a little bit more full;)  Fel and I miss our Mexico vacations and decided to introduce Bella to some international travel.

NEXT WEEKEND - 4th of July in Hutch and GG and Gpa Bill are coming to visit!

Pigtails!

2 huge things happened this weekend - I spent my 1st night away from Bella ever AND we are weaning!  (The two just happened to tie together quite nicely).  I was asked to emcee the family medicine resident graduation and couldn't pass up on the honor.  I had SO much fun catching up with all my friends and colleagues, lots of reminiscing.  Since Bella and I were already apart 30+hours, we decided we were off to a great start and to push on through.  We told her the milkie was all gone and she actually took it better than expected.  (I think I'm taking it harder than she is. . . . .ouch!)

Arts & crafts

I love that they do so many crafts @ school (then I don't feel guilty about not dealing with the mess at home:)

Happy Father's Day

So I accidently kicked Felipe in the groin last night while I was sleeping.  Bella kicked him in the groin this morning when we were all snuggling in bed.  Father's Day can only go up from here.  To all the great Father's in my life!

It's been a long week. . . . . .

Last weekend we headed up to Kansas City for urology graduation.  So much fun on catching up with all of our old friends.  Unfortunately the fun ended around 11pm, when Bella started waking up on the hour every hour.  Ugh.  She ended up in bed with me tossing and turning and poor Fel was booted.
Then the week started off with a bang - about 9am Monday we get a call from daycare that Bella has a fever and needs to be picked up.  I was on call, so couldn't leave the office.  Fel had just pulled in to Council Grove for his away clinic (1 hour away to be exact) and had to turn around and head home.
Luckily Felipe's dad headed in and spend the day with her on Tuesday.  I think they both had a really great time.
Wednesday we sent her back to school.  Made to until about 230, when I get another call that she has a fever.  My turn.  I rushed over to pick her up between patients.  End up seeing my last patient with her on my lap, run her down the hall to get checked out (no fever = score!, ear infection needing abx = boo!), and then home.
Thursday we hit the road for KC again so that I could go to my annual Kansas Academy of Family Physicians meeting.  We both had already taken the day off, Bella was on abx, and actually looked pretty good.  Thursday was exhausting, but she slept pretty well that night.  Fel and I even got to steal away for date night @ Rye a new Southern comfort food restaurant.
Friday was another long day, but we celebrated with another date - Blue Koi this time, an old favorite dating back to when we first started medical school.  Unfortunately Bella didn't sleep as well Friday night.
Saturday, today, has been a blur.  I skipped out on my conference (didn't have a single working brain cell) and we loaded into the car early to head home.  Luckily she didn't sleep much in the car so after a quick lunch we all piled into our respective beds for a 3 hour nap waking up groggy and hungry with an empty refrigerator.  Rotisserie chicken to the rescue!
Tomorrow is going to be all about catching up on lounging and laundry.

Here's a few pics from the week.  Fel, Gloria, and Fernando took Bella to a petting zoo by their house which she absolutely adored!
