Our weekend. . . . .

Friday, Felipe and I completed our graduation "scavenger hunts" getting our final signatures on our check-out list and turning in our pagers.  What a bittersweet feeling.  Do you know I've been @ KU for 13 years now?  That's a lot to leave behind.

My knitty friends threw a little celebration - complete with sparkling grape juice (forgot how delicious this stuff is!), divvying up some awesome knitty books, lots of hugs, AND an amazing handknit owl that everyone in the family is in love with.

Saturday was time for cleaning and organizing - though we did make it on a nice walk and went back to the park for some swing action.  We finished off the last of our Maker's Mark with some mint juleps using some fresh mint from my herb garden, sipping it al fresco while Fel played guitar.

Today is more cleaning and purging, Bella served herself a BIG bowl of oatmeal (see video below), and getting ready for the big move TOMORROW!

Choo Choo!

Dad - does this bring back memories?
Bella went around the house in her little train stopping to pick up all her stuffed animal friends.

And a blast from the past - - -

The park

Fel & I went on a lunch date to Chipotle, grabbed some Miami ice, then met Bella @ the park.  So precious!

Reading is fun: Lucy

Just finished reading this crazy teen novel about a girl who is a bonobo-human hybrid.  It was a terrible book (but I bet the young adults loved it!), and I couldn't put it down.

Primatologist Jenny Lowe is studying bonobo chimpanzees deep in the Congo when she is caught in a deadly civil war that leaves a fellow researcher dead and his daughter, Lucy, orphaned. Realizing that the child has no living relatives, Jenny begins to care for Lucy as her own. But as she reads the late scientist’s notebooks, she discovers that Lucy is the result of a shocking experiment, and that the adorable, magical, wonderful girl she has come to love is an entirely new hybrid species—half human, half bonobo.

Fel's Final Graduation

Fel had his graduation celebration last night - a HUGE catered dinner (garozzo's - yum!) out back at his boss's house.  Similar to mine,  yet so very different.  Goodness, these past 5 years have flown by (yet at other times seemed non-ending).  I'm very excited to start a new chapter and am very proud of how well Felipe has excelled at this one.

My final graduation. . . . . . .

Had a great time @ Geriatrics graduation last night!  Miss Bella (as always) was the hit of the party.  She's learned to share and wanted to feed momma lots of watermelon!

Fun weekend with GG and Gpa Bill

My parents came down for the weekend to help me entertain Miss Bella while Fel was in Nola for a urology board review class.  Again, she was super fussy and clingy.  That makes 2 weekends in a row!  She must be working so hard - learning new things and crawling - to wear her out so much.  As you can tell by the pic's below, she still had quite a bit of fun:)

Looking Back

2012.
Baby Bella was the size of a cucumber, and we started our Baby registries as well as the nursery.  We also ate lots of fruits and veggies from the CSA and took a Hypnobirthing class.  Had a second-look weekend in Manhattan, and graduated residency.  A BIG month!

2011.
A big driving month.  Did some moonlighting in Parsons, visiting the fam in Arkansas, and went to the KAFP meeting in Wichita.

2010.
Was voted into the Yelp Elite granting me access to free parties, which was awesome!  Had my first 30 hour call as a resident, which was much less awesome.  We moved to our house on 80th Terrace and started getting it set up.

2009.
June marked the end of the "Season of Melissa" -- match day, bridal showers, destination wedding in Jamaica followed by 2 wedding receptions, professional wedding photos photos, ending with the beginning of residency.  We celebrated with a B&B weekend getaway to Weston - which I loved but was a little too quaint for the hubby.  I also started our family tree on My Heritage which has been a huge success.  Felipe graduated intern year right as I started intern year.

2008.
Felipe started residency right after we moved to Janssen Place (our first home!)  I also presented my first research poster and won 3rd place.
