Happy Halloween!

We've had a big couple of days!  Yesterday I went up the stairs (TWICE!) for the first time.  Went much better than expected.  It was also my first glimpse of my post-baby body in a full length mirror.  Glad I had that two+ week buffer period:)  My new nursing tops/dresses I ordered from Target came in and they are so cute!  It will make going back to work just a bit more bearable.

Today I got out of the house with Izzy for the first time, we went to meet little Tony who is ~3 weeks older than she is.  She was an absolute angel and it was SO nice to have some mommy time.  I'm going to have to make it a point to get out and socialize more.  I feel normal again, and refreshed, which is such an amazing feeling.

I'll try to get some more Halloween pics later with the real camera.  We've got a 2nd halloween outfit to show off plus an adorable pumpkin hat.

Our First Day Home Alone

Today started a little rough.  I decided to begin my cloth-diaper adventure.  My 9am she had peed through one outfit and pooped/peed through a second.  Sigh. . . . . . .just finishing up the laundry now.  I'm thinking maybe her little booty was too big for the newborn size?  I'm going to give it a week and weigh-in.  I'll either come around and love it or absolutely hate it.  In that case there are plenty of disposable diapers out there and I know people with a Sam's membership so we can buy in bulk!

Otherwise I did get a little breakfast and big lunch in me, put away the dishes, am working on a load of laundry, talked briefly with my lawyer about reviewing my job contract, and watched 2 episodes of Twin Peaks.  Not too shabby;)  Isabella was rather fussy this morning so I've been letting her nap most of the day which may not bode well for tonight. . . . . .

Our first walk

Made it a half block before I got sore and had to turn around.  Slow and steady wins the race.  Still haven't made it upstairs, maybe tomorrow. . . . sleeping downstairs is starting to get old.  I miss my bed!  I did talk my wonderful husband into bringing our new rocking chair downstairs which has been AMAZING!  So much easier to feed the little lady when you are in a proper chair.

Big thanks to Miss Annie for bringing pizza hut and girltalk for lunch, and the Rosso's for bringing some deliciously healthy soup for dinner.  Miss Isabella has been up almost all day which means she will sleep great tonight!

Tomorrow is going to be my first day home alone with her. . . . . .fingers crossed!

Back in the Kitchen

Made it back in the kitchen today to make some coconut lemon bars - love the tart, but they were WAY too sweet.  The frosting put them over the top.

Also planning on making some crockpot apple-pie oatmeal to eat on this week.

Mom and Dad were an AMAZING help this week.  Definitely could not have survived without them.  Didn't have to do any housework, cooking, or cleaning.  If Miss Izzy got too fussy they always seemed to have the right touch.  Hugs and Kisses to you for your help!

SO nice to have Fel back.  Isabella missed him so much!  They had some fun jamming on the guitar this afternoon and listening to music.

Yesterday was my first adventure out of the house - sonic and walgreen's to pick up pic's for the baby album.  30 minutes was all I could handle away from my little lady.  She's starting to be much more awake and alert, which makes her fun to interact with but very fussy when she fights sleep.

Things I am thankful for:
I haven't cried (yet!)
Felipe being an excellent poppa
Two amazing sets of grandparents
I've got a full freezer/frig of food and haven't had to cook
Elo & Jackson have welcomed Isabella into our home  (meaning they keep their distance)
Breastfeeding is going great and she is starting to get little fat rolls and chubby cheeks
I've gotten at least 2 straight hours of uninterrupted sleep everynight, and a nap most days
I got to order some VERY cute nursing clothes online today
I haven't gone more than 2 days w/o a shower
I've brushed my teeth everyday (but not my hair!)

Momma's still looking rough, but Miss Izzy is cute as can be.  She's quite the night owl, 4 weeks left to turn it around before I'm back to work.

fel's last day home

Today is a sad day for iMelipe.  Fel's vacation is coming to a close and he is packing to head to CO.  Luckily my parents are following close behind!

Yesterday was rather rough.  I think we had some confusion with the pacifier which made her super fussy for her photos.  But, we survived and she slept well last night.

Fingers crossed for a great day today.

the great outdoors

The weather was SO gorgeous today - thought we'd sit on the front steps and enjoy it.  Initially we attempted a stroll, but those plans changed rather quickly (momma got a little freaked out!)

Mommyhood

1. All the support from friends & family - Target runs, groceries, amazing home cooked meals (chx noodle soup, Indian, peanut butter cookies), hand-me-downs.  You all are AMAZING!
2. Miss Isabella Grace - snuggling with her early in the morning while the sun comes up and the house is quiet, her facial expressions are too cute for words.
3. Having a house husband- he does the laundry, heats up meals, does dishes, tells me I'm beautiful.  It doesn't get any better than this.
4. Realizing we CAN do this - the hardest thing Melipe has ever done is to become iMelipe.
5. Firsts - our first ride in the car, first doctor's appointment, first bath, first diaper change.

UPDATE:  Her weight is up from discharge, looking good!  Next doc appt in 1-2 weeks.

Felipe signed/sealed/delivered his job contract yesterday.  Manhattan here we come!

Homeward Bound

After a very long night, we are wrapping things up here in the hospital and getting ready to head home. Miss Isabella has become quite the hungry girl!  Hopefully I'll be able to keep up a little better once we get home.  Felipe is an amazing papa.  He has changed 90% of the diapers and has been infinitely patient with me (when I can wake him up!).

I still need up upload all of the camera pictures, will try to around to it today or tomorrow.  Wish us luck at home.  I'm missing Elo & Jackson.  I hope they love Isabella as much as I do.
