Had a full and busy week leading up to a fun-filled weekend. (I'll spare you the work details and share what you're really interested in - - Miss B!). Wednesday she had her 15-month well-child visit - she's up to a hefty 22lbs and is at the 90th percentile for height. This round of immunizations went so much better than in the past. A little fussy for a few days, but nothing major and no fevers.
Yesterday we took to the highway and went to Hutchinson. This is the first time Bella has been big enough to interact with her little cousins and it was so much fun to watch! I think GG took some pics and as soon as I can get my hot little hands on them I'll share.
Yesterday she wanted to sit on the potty like a big year, so I'm ordering her a little throne of her own. I think we're a little early to start potty training but if she wants to practice I'm game.
On the menu for today - ham and asparagus quiche. Also baked up the leftover pie crust scraps into some cinnamon sugar crispies just like mom used to make - yummy!
In the mail - some new pumps for work and my first shipment from Stitch Fix!
She colors, she sculpts with playdough, and she plays the guitar.
Anyone believe in Karma? Yesterday morning I got up the nerve to book a family trip to Florida to take Bella to the beach (as anyone with kid's knows, travelling with a little one can be a bit daunting). First strike - couldn't find a vacation rental nor a hotel room. Finally I gave Expedia a call, and they found us a room (see strike 3). Second strike - After I got our room booked, the flight/rental car wouldn't go through. After a few hours of trying and an hour of holding on the phone we found out the Expedia website was down for maintenance. They asked us to call back in 2 hours. When we did, our flight was no longer available and the price had risen $200 - - -sheesh! Third strike (three strikes you're out right? I just kept on going) - At this point I realized that we were booked into an itty bitty studio room, which didn't sound very fun for 3 people. I then spent several more hours searching for other places to stay. After calling the hotel this morning, they said if we cancelled through Expedia we could re-book with them into a 1 bedroom - - things were looking up. Fourth strike - This morning I found an affordable flight. When I went to pay, it again wouldn't go through. (I had learned my lesson with Expedia and was now trying to book through the airline direct.) I'd say in the past 2 days I've spent over 8 hours trying to get this trip together and have been thwarted at every turn. We've decided that this is karma telling us not to go to Florida. Sigh. . . . . . .
What a busy week! I worked late most days, not getting home until 6ish which means I missed family dinner time. Luckily Felipe is a super "house husband" and managed to keep up our routines. I'm hoping this coming week brings better hours at work.
Now the weekend was a completely different story. GG and Gpa Bill were in for the weekend bringing lots of toys and good cheer. Bella loves her new jack-in-the-box!
We've had a lovely weekend - despite having to cancel plans. Our intentions were to buzz up to Kansas City yesterday, with a pit-stop in Topeka to meet Theo (the newest addition to the Schumacher family) and to catch up with the urology crew @ their holiday party. But when the forecast predicted snow, wind, and limited visibility we put those plans on the backburner. As the afternoon dwindled down with not a flurry in sight we were quite frustrated (and a little stir crazy!)
As soon as we piled into the Camry for a field trip to the mall the blowing and snowing began. Not to be deterred, we even stopped for some warm noodles at Noodles & Company. Bella was on her best behavior and really enjoyed the trip. We need to get this girl out more (one of our many resolutions for 2014.)
It's the perfect weather for a hearty stew - - - anything with quinoa and butternut squash I'm immediately a fan of. The olives added just the right amount of savory.
