Happy Birthday Honey!

Birthday besos to my dear husband!
We kicked off  his 30th birthday weekend extravaganza Friday with a trip to his all-time favorite steakhouse, J. Gilbert's.  He managed to polish off an entire 18 oz ribeye complete with onion rings, cheddar chipotle mashed potatoes, and a piece of chocolate velvet cake.
Saturday, he was treated to the traditional barbershop experience with haircut, head & shoulder massage, and hot towel shave.  He came home a very handsome and pampered man!
Saturday night, we had an impromptu birthday party which lasted all through the night.  I ended up snagging some chips and salsa and hiding in the bedroom with the cats and a good gossip magazine.  I think I'm the one getting old!
Today we went to Fel's parent's house for the most delicious ajiaco - even the summer heat couldn't make this taste any less amazing.

Goodbye Tree

My front yard has become a deforested mass of branches.  RIP my shade tree.

Knitted Bean Bags

This looks so comfy!

(Courtesy of Design Mom.)

These knitted beanbags by Zilalila look good to me. We’ve never tried beanbags at our house, but the idea of a cozy reading spot with an oversize cushion and a low table always sounds appealing.

cucumber water

Last Thursday, my dentist had this amazing glass carafe filled with iced cucumber water.  It tasted amazing - perfectly refreshing on a hot summer afternoon.

I immediately went home and made my own pitcher.
Staying hydrated is so much easier when it tastes this good.  I highly suggest you promptly make your own.

Silver shoes

Just scored these fabulous silver Kork Ease platforms on e-bay for a steal!

Kork-Ease Donna Silver
The Legend of Kork-Ease (per their website):
More than a half century ago, the Kork-Ease legacy began as nothing more than an idea in Brooklyn, New York. What started as an idea, quickly turned into a new way people thought about their footwear. The Wedge was born.
Turn the clocks to the 1970s, and you couldn’t turn the corner of any street without seeing someone wearing a pair of Kork-Ease sandals. Many brands tried to copy our sandals, but none could adequately duplicate our style or success.
The Original Kork-Ease Wedge has been immortalized in the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Landmark Shoe Collection – an honor bestowed to only 25 styles of footwear all-time.

You know, I've always loved art history. . . . .especially when it comes to shoes!

I went on a major shopping spree this weekend hitting up several fave thrifties and consignments.  Can't wait to wear my new finds - - several dresses for work, some blouses to tie at the waist (see below), and a navy polyester jumpsuit!  My fashion goal is to avoid the mass-market and chains in favor of local business and second-hand.

220. . . .

equals the number of hours I have worked so far in July, and the month isn't done.  220 hours where I could have been sleeping, cooking, shopping, going on dates with my husband, or even blogging to you guys.  I promise it will get better and I will be back in cyberspace here soon.

grumblina

That's what Felipe calls me when I get grumpy - "grumblina."  And let me tell you, she has been out in full force lately.  My job is unbelievably stressful right now.  We're doing the work of 4 residents (which is often overwhelming even with a full staff) with only 3.  I have a very hard time leaving work at work and have been coming home exhausted - emotionally, physically, and mentally.

Felipe has been super supportive, he greeted me at the door with roses, smoked salmon, and a chick flick.  He truly is the best and I couldn't do it without him.

You know what - no is perfect or immune to the grumbles.  Dr. Rosso just scolded me for using "his" bathroom:)
