The first weekend of August was heavenly. I went to our new Trader Joe's, got a facial, a new leopard print swimsuit, visited with my parents, and ate the most delish burnt ends. The weekend ended rather hellish (quite literally) with Fel and I sitting in a dark and hot house after a storm took out the electricity. Luckily, just as we were rounding up the cats to retreat to the in-laws our power was miraculously restored! Luckily this was before I threw out everything in the frig and freezer for worry it was spoiled.
Last weekend was spent in Parsons, moonlighting. It was my best shift to date. Usually I have a few really tough patiens (ie stroke, heart attack.) This time my most difficult patient had a sprained ankle and was withdrawing from several drugs, so he wasn't too easy to deal with.
It's amazing that after 24 consecutive years of school I still have so much to learn. With all the new technological advances in medicine, this is a feeling I'm going to have the rest of my career. Granted, as I gain more experience things will come easier and perhaps I will become more comfortable with not always knowing the answer.
While in Parsons I did get recruited by an orthopedic surgeon who is part of a large private practice in Kansas City. I've sent in my resume, let's see what they have to offer in return.
This weekend I moonlighting in Hutchinson. I'm excited to visit, but definitely regretting the professional obligation. Could I be so lucky to get two smooth weekends in a row?
Today I got to rock my new Sanita Theodora's - - made it an entire half-day of clinic with zero pain and 3 compliments. What a score!
